From March 20 through June 2, works by Kwon Dae-Hun and Sim Seung-Wook are on view at Gallery Lee & Bae, Busan, showcasing sculptures, photographs, and installation works by two artists. The exhibition titled ‘인식하는 자, 기다리는 자’highlights the world of those-who-realize and those-who-wait. Kwon Dae-Hun and Sim Seung-Wook present a dialogue between works suggesting ways to face and cope with the irrational realities that happen in our society. Both artists are internationally known for referring to introspection and taking social participatory gestures.
The exhibition ends on June 2nd.
For Kwon Dae-Hun, the expression of will begins with self-awareness portrayed with the aesthetics of 'waiting.' Capturing the essence of waiting is an impossible task without having clear identities of the waiting subject and object. Never to be completely free from endless cycles of social phenomena, modernness individuals continue the act of waiting and communicate with invisible objects without much movements. Such suspension of actions are only temporal, and following situation is implicitly hinted with the medium of 'light'.
